Well it’s official I’m venturing to my first ever AWS re:Invent in November over in Las Vegas, USA. This is great for a number of reasons:
- Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of Cloud Computing and I’ll get to hear first hand what’s new and coming over the next Calendar year on the AWS Platform.
- The chance to learn and absorb all the information from industry leaders/peers whilst also networking with them.
- Las Vegas is one of my favourite places on Earth.
- I’m making it into a vacation so that I can have some additional days to relax (if that’s even possible) and my wife gets to do some Christmas shopping!
I had been considering whether or not to finance the trip entirely myself as I didn’t think that my employers would. However after a conversation with my director and offering to pay for the travel and accommodation myself; my employers agreed to pay for the conference pass itself.
The conference itself is being held over a number of the Casino’s within Las Vegas with the majority of it being isolated to the Venetian, MGM Grand and Aria. I’m still waiting for the list of breakout sessions to be announced, but I’ve decided to base myself from the MGM Grand.
Given that I’ve already passed the AWS associate level exam (Architect, SysOps and Developer), I’ve started studying for the professional level exam within my own personal time.
I’ve pre-booked the Solution Architect Professional Bootcamp for Tuesday 28th November whilst at re:Invent with the plan being to sit the exam on Friday 1st December.
